Instyler
It is not always that a TV commercial gets me interested. But the one for the Instyler Rotating Hair Iron managed to do just that. For years I had been bored by the flat-irons and here was one product that not only promised to change that, but also the way I style my pretty locks. But then, this is the age of hype and you cannot really trust big claims anymore. After some days, I finally decided to give the rotating iron a try. And yes, I was pleasantly surprised. For a change, I found the claims being made were real this time.
What Makes Instyler Hair Iron Special?
If you have watched the “#1 Rotating Iron in The World” Instyler commercial, you must be more or less aware of the claims made by the company. The product makes a number of promises, like:
• It uses a brush-fitted rotating heat cylinder which uses less heat than a normal flat iron.
• It can straighten, lift or curl your hair as well as add volume and shine to it.
• It does not burn your hair.
• With Rapid Heat Upgrade, you can heat up the iron within 3 minutes or less.
• It boasts of 3 varying heat settings – low, medium and high – for varying hair textures.
• It can dry as well as style your moist hair at the same time.
However, it is best to air-dry your hair before using the iron. This is also mentioned in the instruction leaflet that comes with the product. I used it an hour after bath when my hair was slightly damp. The product, of course, works on all types of hair, which include
• Fine and limp hair
• Damp hair
• Thick, coarse hair
• Non-synthetic hair extensions
Does Instyler Hair Iron Really Work?
As far as my experience goes, the product worked quite well for me. I have curly hair and wanted to straighten it for my seminar. The iron worked really great on my hair sections and straightened them naturally. It also removed a lot of frizz. I adjusted the iron slightly to make my hair turn outward at the ends. There were absolutely no flyaways, which is one thing I dislike about many flat irons. As claimed, the iron really adds luster to your hair. My hubby actually liked the shine on my locks and it really matters! He is quite hard to please. Considering the fact that I have thin hair, the iron really added some volume to it and made it look naturally puffed up.
One thing that I found early on is the right adjusting of the heat settings. With high heat settings, you can get burned and also damage the equipment. I personally prefer low heat and the styler worked perfectly for me. But one of my friends had a horrible experience to share. She went on and on about how the Instyler burnt her ear during her very first hair-straightening episode. The lower plastic bristles of her iron were also damaged. I guess she turned on the heat too high. It is best for you to go through the DVD or instruction leaflet contained within the package, like I did. That way, you can avoid a lot of heartbreaks.
How Does Instyler Rotating Hair Iron Perform?
The iron has a polishing cylinder and 4 rows of nylon bristles arranged in precision. I separated my hair into 2-3 inch sections and placed them between the cylinder and the bristled end. As I ran the Instyler through my hair, the cylinder began to rotate gently. The bristles gently divided my strands while the rotating barrel began to add fullness and shine to my locks. The barrel has a smooth surface which did not harm my locks in any way. The rotator creates different hairstyles at different angles. It will need you sometime to understand which angle produces the desired effect for you. It is better for you to sit with sometime in your hands during your first styling session with the Instyler iron.
While working, you can hear a humming sound. This is nothing to worry about. It is actually the noise of the inbuilt motor at work.
Should You Buy the Instyler Rotating Iron?
This is not a perfect machine and has its fair share of flaws. But if used correctly, it can give you more than it is worth. The product can be a little difficult to handle initially. However, continued handling will help you get used to it and be able to use it properly. As I said before, checking out the instruction leaflet and DVD will help you get a better hang of the instrument. These are new days for the Instyler and I hope they just upgrade their product soon to polish the rough edges and make it more complete for buyers.
